Our Foley pit
APRIL NEWS FROM OUTPOST STUDIOS
The definition of Foley: Sound from a source other than the tracks
bearing synchronized dialogue, narration or music: sound effects
commonly introduced into a master track in the rerecording step,
usually with the idea of enhancing the illusion of reality. The
reality of Foley: It is part art, science, and perfect timing.
Marnie Moore is such an alchemist she brings her balletic movements
in time, producing beautiful sounds, all to enhance the story
telling process. And this month we were lucky to have her come
in several times to work with a variety of clients.
Filmmaker Claudia Leger’s "traces"
presents a series of cryptic and dreamlike encounters between
a woman and a younger man at an American roadside motel. Working
with cinematographer Walter Kotkowski, Dave Nelson, on Sound Design
and Marnie Moore, providing Foley, Claudia Leger was able to bring
this beautiful short to fruition.
Director/Producer Paul Wood produced two commercials for a large
high-tech company. Dave Nelson provided, Sound Design and Marnie
Moore, Foley.
Caveh Zahedi in preparation the Tribeca Film Festival continued
to work on “I am a Sex Addict”, his full-length feature.
Engineers Dave Nelson, Jim Lively and Miik Dinko added to it new
post-production sound, and ADR, Jeremiah Moore Sound Design, and
Marnie Moore provided Foley. Take a look at Caveh

Dave Nelson brought his San Francisco State Cine 520 class and
Marnie Moore together. She spent an afternoon teaching the basics
and providing Foley for some of the student’s films. It
was a lively class, seeing Marnie in action is always an eye opener,
and a great joy.

Tree Friends”, voice over session with Engineer Miik Dinko.
“Happy Tree Friends” is an edgy show and an animation
staple of MTV Latino’s schedule.
